Space Camp update

Team Carpenter had a blast during their first full day of Space Camp!
The team had a photo-op under the enormous Saturn V rocket that runs along the center of the Davidson center. Student marveled at displays of NASA contributions to space travel and research: the Apollo 16 module, space suits, a moon rover, and more!
Later, the group took part in a Mars colony rock wall climb. Make sure to visit our shutterfly site: leapteachers.shutterfly.com

Several students climbed the most challenging section of the wall; Anna and Will were especially competitive and raced to the top!

Students spun around in the G-Force simulator, which is much like an oversize, metallic salad spinner. Those of you who grew up enjoying the Tom Twister at Six Flags will appreciate this one.
Some of the educational pieces today included: solar system fundamentals, mission training, mars briefing, the Gemini-Apollo missions, and more.

Students built model rockets which will be launched Tuesday.

Later in the evening, after a delicious meal at Chez Space Camp, our LEAPers watched the IMAX film, "Hail Columbia" and "Space Suits for Mars" -- our campers brushed teeth, called home, and got prepped for bed. There was a bit of homesicknesses, but for the most part, our kiddos are feeling more confidents and are enjoying their Space Camp experience.
