Day One was a long and exciting one...
We landed in London at exactly 5:44 and never stopped moving. We met our tour guide, Libby and found out she is from a small village near Cornwall and went to a small university called Oxford. She also dabbled in a few classes at a rival no-name school, Cambridge. She immediately gained pretty much everyone's respect and trust. The kids love her.
Heathrow was a bit psychotic, but we exited with only a few minor problems. We dropped off our bags at our hotel and immediately continued moving. We took the Tube to Greenwich to see the Cutty Sark tea clipper, shop the market there, have lunch, and some of us walked to the Prime Meridian.
Afterwards we took a river taxi up the Thames to see all the sites and sail under the famed Tower Bridge and London Bridge. We had a Cockney boatswain which made the trip both entertaining and sometimes inaudible.
We were dropped off next to a dumpy clock tower and some Parliament castle or something like that and made our way to the London Eye. After riding the Ferris wheel, we went to a fairly new exhibit called 4D. Pretty much it was a 3d movie and occasionally real items would start flying past us. I accidentally swallowed a couple of bubbles.
Our final stop for the afternoon was dinner at Rouge Cafe. Although we were all half asleep, the kids behaved marvelously. Three times on the trip people have come up to us and complimented our group which is a great start!
Well, I am falling asleep writing this, so we will update you again tomorrow.
