Soccer soccer soccer

And for the good news, Kate's first game back after a month and 4 days off was a winner for parochial district championship!! I'm not gonna lie winning is fun, exciting, and well just HUGE! She played an amazing game and even though she fell five times, she protected her fingers. There are 4 girls on this team from her other team that lost last week and I KNOW Kate was going to carry the whole team on her back to a Victory (good thing the other 8th grade girls felt the same way!) they won in the last few minutes 1-0! Big battle in the 33 degree cold weather!

Although my children have suffered great soccer losses this past week, I am always reminded why I love youth sports!! What a great way to experience the gamut of human emotions without long lasting consequences (no one died, lost a job, got hurt, etc)! Although, really, I believe there are great long lasting consequences like confidence, pride, ambition, goal setting, focus as well as dealing with disappointment, sadness and compassion for others. When Kate's team walked arms linked off the field last week, crying and disappointed it was a lesson no book can teach her... I know she stood a little taller last night when she was awarded her medal, she earned it and knew she made a difference and I couldn't be more proud when she shook the other team's hand and took the time to tell the best player on their team what an awesome player she was. Did I say I LOVE youth sports win or lose! Congrats Parochial can't wait for next week!!
