When he is sleeping I can see all the soft little boy features that are not there when he is awake. As he Informed me, he is a preteen and he never gets to see me. He sees his teacher more than he sees me and he wants to quit strings because he never gets to have recess! I thought about it and he's right, life is too short, no correction, childhood is too short to miss recess. And sure, you can sleep in my bed. <3
I heard a quote once that a parent's main job (especially when the child is a teen or preteen) is to be present and available to the child when the child needs you, not when it is convenient for you. And you are right, life is too short to miss recess. Good job Tam!
ReplyDeleteHe's good at the mommy guilt and would love to sleep in my bed every night! He is trying to lobby to come to my school next year instead of taking the bus to the other middle school, so I hear the "I never see you arguement" a lot, but we both know it is because his best friends are coming to my school not because he will be stopping by my room between classes to "visit"!! I am sure there will be much discussion, because if he is with me that will require more carpooling for me instead of the bus, especially when there are after school activities (and we all know my kids like to join everything!)
