It seems that it has officially taken two weeks, but the girls are both ready to go back to school. Ok, not really when pressed, but the girls have settled into a routine of staying up way too late and I have heard the "I'm bored" statement a few times this weekend! Wil is still keeping a pretty normal sleep schedule, but only because he goes 100 mph all day long and the minute he lays down, he is out (like tonight when he fell asleep on the couch at 7).
Last week we went to the library and signed up for our summer reading club. Wil has already completed level one, he is so completely goal oriented. On Saturday he woke up and read for 3 hours so that he could complete level one and get his first prize when we go back to the library this week!
Our weekend was busy, Friday night Chris made pizzas for the neighborhood, it was Thomas' going away party. The girls baked a cake and everyone had a great time. Thomas left for Florida to stay with his dad for the summer. The kids will all miss him hanging around. On Friday we swam at Uncle D's and the girls walked up to Dierberg's. Then mom and dad went out for some time without kids!
Hard to believe that the month is half over. The "to do" list keeps growing but it has been an interesting summer with an extra family living with us :-). The kids will really miss Noah and Caleb when they are gone! I know that Amy and Eric will be glad to find their own house, we remember being homeless and there is just nothing like your own place where you can just chill and not worry about anything!
The "new to us" tv is hanging in the living room and we love it! Chris worked hard to get it hung and the wires hidden. It looks great, but like any project it has created its own list of projects that need to get done!
The best part about summer is that we just have more time to be together. There doesn't seem to be any part of my day that isn't filled with a kid wanting to sit in my lap, be held, read to, or to sit and have a conversation (they always have something to tell me..."mom, mom, mom" ;-) A great way to enjoy the summer, even if just hanging out doesn't cross anything off the to do list!
