Swim meet brags, ok shockers!

33.81, unbelievable! That is Kristen's free style time in the 50 yard
free style!

I can't believe she is MY kid!

16.46, unbelievable! That is Kate's time in the 25 yard free style!

I can't believe she is MY kid!

18.28, unbelievable! That is Wil's time in the 25 yard free style!

I can't believe he is MY kid!

The kids had a swim meet against Manchester, the best team in the
league and they swam incredible. I know it's that American Idol mom
moment where I say once again that my kids are amazing, but even Simon
can't deny those times! Ever parent know how much they love their kid
and their talents are just extra, doesn't matter what place they
finish or how terrible a singer they are, when they are out there
giving 100 percent and you get to watch, your heart is beating 100
miles a minute and you are bursting with pride that they even put
forth effort... You can hardly believe that "wow" I somehow had a part
in making that person and they are totally awesome... Then other
people notice your kid and you are completely humbled that God has
blessed you with not one but THREE incredible human beings that are
also incredible athletes. Only another parent can know how that can
bring a mom to tears. I really love my kids and could not be
prouder!!! They handle themselves with true sportsmanship!!! Once
again, I can only say, thanks for letting me be your mom!

Wednesday's swim meet

Wednesday was our first swim meet of the season. We were so excited we arrived well over an hour early ;-). Kristen swam her first IM of the season (she had only swam ONE in her life ;-) and she (and mom and dad) were nervous! She finished THIRD overall! Her time was 1:29.73 and was the fastest Fenton swimmer! She also took third place in the 50 yard free style with a time of 32.72. ALL of the kids took time off of their strokes from last year. Her free style relay team took second!

Kate's free style relay team took second place also. She swam the first leg and set a great pace. She took sixth place overall in her back stroke and finished first in her heat!! She took fourth place in her 25 yard free style with a time of 16.97!!

Wil finished FIRST overall in his 25 yard free style with a time of 17.72 beating the next closest swimmer by a full second! His free style relay team took first place, even though they were slated to take third! Wil swam the final leg and swam away from the other swimmers. In his back stroke he took second place with a time of 24.5 and was just out touched by the Chesterfield swimmer by .3 of a second!!

Chris and I could not tell you how proud we were of all the kids. It wasn't too many summers ago that we were happy when the kids took a bit of time off their races and were finishing in the top twenty! And now we are looking at THREE swimmers finishing in the top ten and more often then not in the top 5! We are VERY excited about the next meet and can't wait to see what happens.

The meet was called at 9:30 because of lightning and the kids did NOT get to finish the rest of their races. We were all disappointed but after 5 hours in the sweltering heat, mom and dad were glad to get into the air conditioned car. Chris and I worked the bull pen for the meet, which basically means we made sure all the swimmers were lined up and ready to swim their events. So fun to watch your kids excel (and have so much fun) in a sport that neither of us know anything about! We are truly blessed!!

Tuesday's field trip

This past Tuesday we went to the science center. We only visited the structures hall and of course built both of the arches. We had free tickets to the IMAX, where we saw "Fly me to the Moon." It was a good afternoon.

Summer swimming

Snapfish link to swimming at Uncle D's pool! Cousin Caleb was jumping in from the side. Will post the rest when I find the cord for my camera!

Happy Father's Day!!

Breakfast in bed! Thanks for being a great dad to our children.

Weekend

It seems that it has officially taken two weeks, but the girls are both ready to go back to school. Ok, not really when pressed, but the girls have settled into a routine of staying up way too late and I have heard the "I'm bored" statement a few times this weekend! Wil is still keeping a pretty normal sleep schedule, but only because he goes 100 mph all day long and the minute he lays down, he is out (like tonight when he fell asleep on the couch at 7).

Last week we went to the library and signed up for our summer reading club. Wil has already completed level one, he is so completely goal oriented. On Saturday he woke up and read for 3 hours so that he could complete level one and get his first prize when we go back to the library this week!

Our weekend was busy, Friday night Chris made pizzas for the neighborhood, it was Thomas' going away party. The girls baked a cake and everyone had a great time. Thomas left for Florida to stay with his dad for the summer. The kids will all miss him hanging around. On Friday we swam at Uncle D's and the girls walked up to Dierberg's. Then mom and dad went out for some time without kids!

Hard to believe that the month is half over. The "to do" list keeps growing but it has been an interesting summer with an extra family living with us :-). The kids will really miss Noah and Caleb when they are gone! I know that Amy and Eric will be glad to find their own house, we remember being homeless and there is just nothing like your own place where you can just chill and not worry about anything!

The "new to us" tv is hanging in the living room and we love it! Chris worked hard to get it hung and the wires hidden. It looks great, but like any project it has created its own list of projects that need to get done!

The best part about summer is that we just have more time to be together. There doesn't seem to be any part of my day that isn't filled with a kid wanting to sit in my lap, be held, read to, or to sit and have a conversation (they always have something to tell me..."mom, mom, mom" ;-) A great way to enjoy the summer, even if just hanging out doesn't cross anything off the to do list!

May Cardinal Games

Ok so here is the link to snapfish. It doesn't really help unless you join and/or have a snapfish account. It is pretty simple on the snapfish end as I just click on blogger and enter my info and it automatically posts it here, but you need to JOIN to view the pictures, which is not bad for family members that I know already have an account. BUT for those less "techie" friends and relatives, it is an extra step, I will have to wait to hear from them to see if it is worth posting all the pictures at snapfish. But I suppose I will link them here anyway and just help the "others."
