5th grade party

Today was Kate's 5th grade party! She had an amazing day! The weather
for the outside activities at the YMCA was beautiful. She had a great
time! This is a picture of the magician that performed (that is Kate
up front in the pink shorts, she was his assistant). They had pizza
and nachos and ice cream, not to mention snacks all day. They also
hired a hip-hop instructor to teach the kids moves at the dance party
(he was awesome and is in the new stepup3 movie). No way she can only
have 8 more days at Truman!! Luv u Katie B!!

Glee Girl

Last night Kristen performed her final performance for show choir at the high school before the regular choir performances. It was a very long night for her. She also sang with her regular choir and they sounded amazing! In all three major competitions this year her choir scored a perfect 1!!! SO proud of her (another tear jerker moment for mom and dad). Kristen also received top honors during the awards portion of the program! She received a pin and a medal for outstanding choir student for 2009-2010 for going above and beyond in her musical efforts this year! WOW! (not sure my heart is going to be able to make it through the next 2 weeks of school with such amazing kids!!)!! Congrats Kristen, did I say I love being your mom ;-)!!!

Kate's trip to New York

Click HERE to go to Amy's blog to see pictures of Kate's trip to New York! THANKS Bushia (and Amy) for giving her memories of a lifetime!!!

Joy of victory agony of defeat...

Soccer tournaments are interesting creatures...well maybe it is sports in general, but tournaments give you the highs and lows all compacted into one very short intense weekend!! Let me get straight to the end and say the Wil played 5 games in 24 hours (really his first game was 11 am Sat and the last at 11 on Sunday!)...exhausted and leaving everything on the field would be an understatement. He played on 2 teams, the U9 and U11. The U9 team finished in 2nd place, and even though it is a victory, this would be the agony of defeat as we lost the tournament early this morning, we could not be prouder of the boys, but omg to know that you are so close and to not win is hard for the boys (and their parents) to take. Yes, this is probably where I should go into the "life lessons" speech, but really we wanted to win. The boys are still very happy with their trophies and won2, lost 1 and tied 1. There are probably some memories that you wish didn't happen and the story is probably much better told in person, and Wil has more class than any 9 year old I know as when William was down on the ground after a nasty play, another player spit (yes you read right, SPIT) on him. He didn't get mad, he got even and scored both goals in the 2-0 victory. (Yes, call me if you want to know how I FELT ABOUT IT!). Way to go WIL!

The U11 team tied for 2nd place but since it is a points tournament the other team had 1 more goal than us so they got the trophies but we still tied, agony again, but the boys played kids TWO years older than them, not to mention MUCH taller and heavier and dang our boys simply outplayed everyone, but they just needed legs that were 6 inches longer or a head that could jump 6 inches more!!! We were not outplayed won 2, lost 1 and tied 1...we were just too short!!!

And now for the joy of victory, WILLIAM had an amazing tournament, especially on Saturday! HE played out of his mind, wicked awesome. One of those days, where you can't believe he is 9 and that he is YOUR kid!! I can not tell you how much joy we get out of watching our kids play (win or lose)! Wil had not one but TWO head ball goals on Saturday (seriously??? TWO?? come on he is nine that is unheard of), but his attempts to make head goals were just as amazing! We took to calling him superman as every time he was diving for a head ball it looked like he was flying vertical to the ground!! MVP chants were prevalent and he (and we) was very modest and gracious in accepting all the accolades, it was almost impossible to keep my heart in my chest (and his daddy...lol, we won't mention what he was calling his son, but.... well he knows what I mean), let's just say our faces HURT from smiling!! Yeah, he's not perfect and this won't be the biggest thing he does in life, but wow to be his mom on Saturday was amazing!!LOVE YOU SUPERMAN!!!

Mississippi

Quick trip to see the river before Saturday morning soccer game at
Cape Girardeau! So muddy and wide, the river goes on forever!!

Happy MOTHER"S day!!!

I'm so lucky to have Kristen, Kate, and Wil! Thanks to all the "mothers" in our lives who helps shape their lives!

"A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity, it dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path."
-- Agatha Christie

"A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us when adversity takes the place of prosperity when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts."
--Washington Irving

Weekend update

Our weekend consisted of NO soccer or baseball! Wow! Rainouts, which I
am sure with makeups will overcrowd our already busy month of May!
Happy 1st birthday to Daniel who turns one on May 4th! Here is a pic
of him enjoying his cake at his party! The birthday celebration did
not stop there, as we also celebrated Chloe's 2nd birthday! And even
more birthday celebrating was had when we celebrated Sara's birthday
(we won't mention her age as it is 30 years older than Daniel's ;-)
Great fun and food at Cori's house!

Also...William enjoyed a day at the Cards game with big grandpa! He
sat right by the Cincinnati Reds dugout and collected signatures and a
baseball!! Since the Card scored 6 runs we enjoyed 25cent slushies at
Mobile! Kate had a birthday sleepover and got a manicure and pedicure!
And the girls went to the movies! Throw in some housework, time at
Bushia's, and Chris working on Sunday and it was a busy weekend
without sports!
