He looks so ANGELIC! He took his first communion very seriously! He had a great party and his cards are still hanging in the kitchen and he reads them daily. I can't say we are the most religious family in the world, but I am very proud of the spiritual person he is becoming. He works hard on learning his prayers and thinking about WWJD (what would Jesus do?). We are very blessed to be a part of the St. Paul community.

First communion
Here is Wil with the priest who presented him with his first communion. The vestment that he is wearing was made by the children. Wil's handprint is the red one under his right hand. He was very proud!
Pictures
Here is the necklace that Wil made. He has wore it every day for a week. It is a "choker" NOT a necklace he informs me! Kristen went to her first boy-girl mixer. Here she is on the way to the dance and a picture of the mob outside when I dropped her off! She had a fabulous time dancing the night away!

YIKES!
Somehow ten days got away from me without a post! I am going to have to give myself a schedule or things may get out of control! The kids are SUPER busy and the days are staying light later and the weather is warmer so we have lots less time inside.
Some highlights from the past ten days!
-Wil got his tooth fixed, again.
-Grandma and Grandpa Ohler came for a visit. The kids are always excited to see them.
-Wil made his first communion. I have pics that I need to post.
-Kristen went to her first boy/girl middle school mixer.
-ALL of Wil's baseball games have been rained out!
-We traded couches with Bushia and everyone loves laying on her couches!
-We helped with Bushia's garage sale, which was a big hit!
-We swam at Uncle David's for the first time this summer (well almost summer), I forgot what fishes I have for kids!
-We saw our cousins from out of town and Aunt Sara's baby should be coming any day now!
-Kristen went to the Taylor Swift concert! LOVED IT!
-Kate went to Memphis for her soccer tournament, tied one, won one and lost one! She has lots of stories to share.
-William went to Ram's Park for the NFL football draft and got to play on the field, be on the jumbo tron, ate, got autographs and tshirts.
-We helped Chutka put her house on the market to sell.
-All the kids had regular soccer games both weekends. Wil and Kristen won all their games. Wil scored the only goal in his game on Sunday and was very proud that the other team's coach specifically congratulated him and told him what a great game he played.
-The girls had piano lessons and have picked out their pieces for the spring recital. Kristen is also going to sing "Summertime"
-Kate is memorizing a poem for her poetry festival that is coming up soon.
-Kristen is skipping 7th grade math as her test scores are so good, we are excited for her and reviewing the 7th grade book at home to make sure she grasps the basic concepts.
UMMMMMM.....I am sure there is more, not to mention yardwork, housework, homework and just general every day stuff, but there has to be some time for sleep! No update on Chris' job situation for those of you who have been asking. He is staying positive and the kids are hanging in there. As I have said many times before...life just keeps on keeping on ;-)

This week...
Monday after piano the girls and I went to the mall. Kristen had gift certificates from her birthday and Kate had lots from her birthday. I was tired of hearing them complain to each other about wearing each others shorts now that the weather is nicer. SO three hours and four stores later, the girls got GREAT deals and are ready for spring and summer!! Tuesday...The kids know that the teachers and the school board have not been agreeing on contract negotiations. Kristen and Wil went with me to the school board meeting. Kristen asked to speak and even though I was reluctant at first I let her. She was awesome and too the point, she said "if the adults can't get along and listen to each other, who are the students supposed to look up to, who are our role models." It was very moving and she got a standing ovation. I am VERY proud of her. The meeting was tough even for the adults, but she has been with me through this whole process, one of the curses of being a teacher's kid. The one thing I know my kids have learned through this whole thing is that you stand up for what you believe in.
Tonight Wil also had his practice for first communion. He was super nervous on the drive to the church. He kept asking what does he do if he forgets something. He was so well behaved listened to every direction to the T and then made sure his partner did the same, he was SO serious. In one of the pictures he is giving me a blessing, he looked up at me and gave me a wink...just enough to make me cry....
Since we are talking about Kristen...I got a phone call from her school today and it was her math teacher. He said that she had tested out of the math program and they were going to recommend her for honors math (which means she will skip 7th grade math next year!!). I think I am still in shock. Ok maybe not shocked, because I knew that math had "clicked" for her last year, but still to think of how far she has come in two short years it is amazing.
William had two more baseball games rained out...argh...if we ever get this season started we should be sick of baseball games by the beginning of summer!
Wednesday..Wil had second grade PE night at school. That is where a parent comes to school and does gym class with their kid. Chris and Wil went and had a great time. Wil said it was too short and he thought they should have had more gym time. The boy would live in the gym with a ball in his hand if someone would just bring him milk occasionally! LOL! Speaking of William today he got his tooth re-cemented at the dentist, I am taking bets on how long it will take him to break it again!
Thursday....Kate had soccer practice again, she did Tuesday also. She just LOVES to be on the soccer field. She is so composed and together on the field and a true leader. She is getting excited for her Memphis trip. She is sad that we will not be able to go, but super happy that she will be rooming with her friends! And speaking of Kate (hey I had to say it, or rather type it) she is being sucked into the spring time "puppy love" fest that is going on at school. Yes, that is me rolling my eyes. But I have to note it here in the blog so that hopefully one day she has a little girl just like herself who can do nothing but talk about her girlfriends and "boy"friends :-). And did I mention that she went to the Cardinal's game with some neighbors and their son, they said she was an absolute joy and didn't talk much at all ??? what?? she never stops talking! LOL

William
Sometimes I really think that he is going to be a boxer. He broke his front tooth for the third time, wrestling with a friend. Then he was head butted by the neighbors dog when they were playing. So he will look lovely for his first communion. He has been working on a poetry unit at school and here is the acrostic he did for his name, my only confusion is why the W says whale (although it is one of his favorite animals), it most definitely should have said wrestling!
Happy Easter!
Saturday we went to Uncle David's to dye eggs.
Easter morning, the kids were up early. The Easter bunny left movie gift certificates, water bottles, underwear, and lots of candy, including a huge solid bunny from Merb's (that bunny has good taste ;-).
We all went to Bushia's for Easter and once again she out did herself in the food department. Breakfast pizza, turnovers, fruit pizza and then a full ham and potato lunch not to mention too many homemade sweets to count! Then the grandkids were spoiled once again with the huge egg hunt in her backyard.
We had a very blessed Easter!
We had a very blessed Easter!
EVERYTHING I NEEDED TO KNOW, I LEARNED FROM THE EASTER BUNNY
Don't put all of your eggs in one basket .
Walk softly and carry a big carrot .
Everyone needs a friend who is all ears.
All work and no play can make you a basket case.
A cute little tail attracts a lot of attention . Everyone is entitled to a bad hare day .
Let happy thoughts multiply like rabbits .
Some body parts should be floppy .
Keep your paws off other people's jellybeans .
The grass is always greener in someone else's basket.
An Easter bonnet can tame even the wildest hare.
To show your true colors you have to come out of your shell.
The best things in life are still sweet and gooey !

Life keeps coming...
Even though we take time out to be sad, our life never slows down. We celebrated our friend Cole's 10th birthday.
We had a great time watching the MZZOU basketball games! Here is a picture of Wil and Sonny at our neighbors MIZZOU party.
Kristen had a choir competition. Here is picture of her at rehearsal. She sang a quartet and a duet. She scored a 2 on both pieces(scale 1-5 with 1 being the best). The judges were very impressed that she was only a sixth grader.
Kristen also went to her first sleepover camp. She went to Camp Wyman!! Where my brother and I both went when we were kids!!
And of course, all the kids had soccer games! Wil's baseball games were rained out, so that gave us a bit of free time. And spring has sprung in our little neck of the woods. Life just doesn't slow down and I suppose I wouldn't have it any other way!

Gracie...
We had some sad news last week, our friend Laura passed away suddenly. Many of you met Laura at Kate's birthday parties at our old house. When I was a stay at home mom, I watched Gracie when her mom was at work. Laura and her family have remained our friends and Kate and Grace are still close. It was hard on our entire family. Grace is ten and has a little sister named Kate (yes, Laura loved the way we would always talk about Grace and Kate).
It was a tough week for everyone. Kate did a fabulous job being supportive and she is a great friend.
